Project objectives

The main objective of this project is to develop human resources through education in the field of controlled nuclear fusion physics and technology by providing direct support to young PhD and Master researchers. The project aims to ensure scientific excellence by selecting research topics relevant to the priorities of the field and in line with future development lines, ensuring access for young people to the research institutions of the EUROfusion consortium, increasing the attractiveness of the fusion field for young people, thus leading overall to a common education and knowledge base at European level. The actions envisaged are focused on the recruitment, training, guidance and monitoring of PhD and Master students. The activities are supported by experiments, interpretations and regular meetings between researchers in training and experienced researchers. PhD students are inserted into specialized research groups from the institutions participating in the EUROfusion consortium and are guided to complete the mandatory stages of the doctoral program, first passing the exams related to the preparatory year and developing and presenting reports using research literature. Further on, doctoral students develop and present the Doctoral Research Project, followed by the experimental or theoretical research stage, depending on the specifics of the topic. In the research stage, following the activities carried out in the laboratories, Research Reports are developed and presented. Doctoral students in their final year are guided in interpreting the results and writing the doctoral theses.
